Here I want to share a few words which came to my mind after we hosted the first Next Women event at The Cube in Athens, Greece.
First of all I want to thank you all Ladies for coming and giving your attention to this event on March 19th. Nearly 40 women joined with the business ladies on the panel and the guest speakers.
I want to thank especially Maria Calafatis from The Cube for her strong work, great hosting and collaboration.
On the panel have been: Catherine Lambrou from Nannuka, Athina Polina Dova from Owiwi, Magy Kontou from Toursmart, Alexia Kotsi from Funkmartini, Melina Taprantzi from WiseGreece
Guest speakers have been: Anastasia Kapsali, Exis Project Health / Beauty, Phoebe Prosalika, Taxibeat, Thelma Kalentzoti, Shoutcube, Stephanie Cisowski, Athens Investment Summit Event Manager at Navigator Consulting Group, Natassa Patrikiou from Charisma Gift
What did we talk about?
Our topics have been all kind of business issues, whether you are a startup or a solopreneur. Most questions concerned how to start a business and how to find the right team player. It is important to share the same values and passion.
Several women agreed that it is easier to work with men, because still women mostly tent to compete in a non-supporting way. When it comes to female entrepreneurship, we cannot act like a man, but how does a successful female entrepreneurship really look like?
“If we women learn how to work together, we really can create miracles”, this is what Athina Polina Dova said before the event. I guess we all agree.
Men are much better in competition. That´s why men love sport games so much. They fight, say nasty things to each other, but after the competition they go for a beer and it´s forgotten what happened a few hours ago.
Women don´t. They call up her friend, explain the situation and continue to focus on what happened in the past. We just can get over emotions, we are more emotional.
This is good. We have circumspection radar, and we really can use this for making money and grow our business and family life.
For a women it´s hard to separate life from business. I believe it´s not separable and should not be. Business should go hand in hand with our female nature. Why should business not be sensual?
Yes, it is tough, because you have to make decisions. But don´t you make decisions in life anyway?
It´s tough, especially when you work alone and don´t invest in yourself, and don´t know how business really works.
All women on the panel agreed: You learn that by doing. It needs also really a good mindset.
What do I mean with this?
- A good mindset requires self-trust and building up self-esteem.
The successful people also have fear, but they do step forward. In my work as an AstroCoach and Personal Development Coach, I often see women struggling with this. “I am not good enough, I need another training, apprenticeship”… and mostly, women already have 5 certificates, worked as manager and still they don´t start. Men are not so much afraid to compete and to be visible and be criticized. Women do. They have huge talent and potential, but fear shuts them down, which is a pity because their service really is required. - Share in a clever way
There are people who know they get successful by following other successful people and some want to invent something really new. Everything was invented already; you just put something new to it, something really helpful. Still people are afraid that somebody would steal their idea and therefore they don´t market. Everybody is unique, nobody does it like you! - Accept your fear
- Learn about money, business, attend seminars
- Be willing to build up a really honest, lovingly, strong sisterhood
This might sound spiritual, but actually this is in my opinion all about female entrepreneurship. I also could use the word women circle or like-minded women. Not only business minded, but honest women, who speak from their heart.
Acknowledgment is an important tool; call it ritual, which means: Give honest Feedback. - Choose your friends wisely.
- Stay away from people who bring you down
- Work on your self-value. Do more of what you love and less of what you don´t love!
- Take full self-response
- Nurture yourself. Don´t expect everything from the men
- Learn about relationship. Men and women are different. Talk to men in a clear way – this is another huge topic 🙂
- Love your weakness
- When you have a passion for something – never give up!
We are looking forward to the Next Women Event in Athens.
Ladies, stay tuned!
